What is the recommended procedure to apply thinset over the floor heating wire?

Start with a good quality latex-modified thinset. Use the flat edge of a notched trowel to push the thinset over and into the wire. Then reverse the trowel and use the “comb” side to rake the mortar over the wire in straight parallel lines. Work in small areas. Here's a trowel we recommend.

    My installation will have 1/4” cement board over 3/4” plywood sub-floor.  Before laying tile I usually paint the cement board with a waterproofing product called Red Guard, manufactured by Custom Building Products.  May I use this product with your floor heating products?
