My SunStat Pro died after almost 4 years. The manual says the error logged is because the GFCI has exceeded its life. Looks like a $40/year service fee to keep my floor running. The warmth is certainly worth the agravation.

Does not keep accurate time

The clock has substantial drift (several minutes each month) Perhaps not so bad as a thermostat, but not great when you depend on the unit to tell you the time in the morning. Was told by a technician that this was because it is driven off the frequency of my electricity which tests normal and no other clocks in my home have this problem.

I ordered the thermostat as a replacement for my original one which failed due to what appeared to be a melted connection after a few years of operation. I have no idea what precipitated the failure after such a long period of usage and was happy to have the replacement hooked up and my floor heat functioning once more. I enjoy the floor heat under the tiled floor of my old farmhouse dining room in Michigan, and would add it in other areas if I ever changed floor coverings of other rooms for any reason

I had to replace a 10- year-old SunTouch thermostat for a floor heating mat in our master bathroom. The unit had reached a temperature of over 100 degrees, was still increasing and had to be shut off with the controls on the back of the wall mounted unit which were difficult to locate. The new Sun Touch thermostat which replaced the failed and discontinued old model was a noted step up with improvements including a lighted control face and on-off buttons on the exterior.
The new unit was shipped on a very timely basis and was easy to install since the sensor was in working shape.

It is a great product but like other responses I had trouble wiring it. Finally had to call an expert. We found two places where it was wired incorrectly. All is well with the world now.

Scott, Thank you so much for your prompt replies. Since the GFCI was tripping I decided to re-check all my wiring. As a result I see what I did to cause the problem. I just now flipped the breaker on and the thermostat and everything is now working PROPERLY!! Thanks again. By the way, these mats worked great under the tile floor in the master bath – everything I could have hoped for!

We have just purchased a SunStat Pro model 500670 and love it. However I did not want to use the programmed timing feature. I was not able to figure out how to over ride it so I called your tech support. Wow. I called your toll free number, the call was answered in 2 rings and I spoke to a very nice young man who spoke English, was helpful, gracious and solved my problem. Just wanted to thank you for your great customer service.

I installed the complete warm floor in 2008. It has performed flawlessly. Following the explicit instructions insured that I have a very reliable system. The programmable thermostat insures the floor is at a very comfortable temperature when I require it. Your cat or dog will love you for it!!
