Your snow melting system will work best if it is connected to an automatic sensor & control.

The DS-9C Snow Sensor-Controller activates your heating mats or cables when it detects snow based on the presence of both low temperature and precipitation. It has a moisture sensor with a 10-Ft cord which can be mounted open to the sky OR used as a gutter sensor for roof/gutter applications.

The DS-9C features two 30 Amp contacts (relays) and automatically controls 60 Amps (30 Amps on each relay) of snow melting mats or cables. 

If you are familiar with the ProMelt PM-5C, the 9C is an almost identical snow sensor with the sameload handling capacity AND the sensor on a cable (instead of fixed mounting on top), which is ideal for use in gutters.

With power-saving automatic activation, reliable and accurate precipitation detection, easily adjustable trigger temperature settings, and a drying cycle, the DS-9C is a great solution for your snow melting system. It is a stand-alone sensor/control that does not need to be connected to a control panel and can be operated in manual or automatic mode. The DS-9C cannot be used with Contactor Pro control panels, which are designed for use with 24 V snow sensors (PM-L1-L2-L3). The snow sensor measures approximately 5"x7"x3" and should be used with medium systems up to 30 + 30 Amps
